Hurricane Dorian

In September 2019,  hurricane Dorian First destroyed some of the Bahamas, and then moved up the Eastern US coast.  Around September 5th Dorian hit the Nags Head NC area, taking some parts of the local Piers with it.

This rescue is a small amount of wood that we gathered from the beaches of Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills the weekend after the hurricane.  Beachcombers had pulled this from the water and made piles for the town to clean up.

While Nags Head was not hit hard by Dorian, one area had some  heavy damage to electrical poles.  This was the causeway between Nags Head and Manteo.

Across the causeway near the damage is Millers restaurant, which has an upstairs bar that faces the sound between the Outer Banks and the mainland, facing West.

After gathering the wood from the ocean side, we took in the fantastic sunset view over on the sound side.
